Line from commercial for Giada De Laurentiis houseware line at Target: I’m a chef and a mom, so I know what we all want.
Orly? Those two jobs make you a mind reader?
Am fairly certain she doesn’t know what *I* want.

Hmmm, not a mom and definitely not a chef so uhhhhh, nope. She don’t have a clue!
I figured the line was supposed to imply that she knew what busy people who still want to cook good, easy food wanted. But it didn’t work.
Yeah, not the best tagline. I think it was probably meant to say “Yeah, I’m a chef, but I’m also down-to-earth and every day, so my stuff will suit your lifestyles,” but to put the “mom” label on it was a dumb move. I love her stuff and that remark managed to alienate me.
I figured that was the intent, but it just…didn’t work for me.
I’m a mom and I’m pretty certain I don’t even know what my kids want. Maybe I’d have better luck with a buncha people I’ve never met. It would be nice to have someone take my advice (based on the babies I squeezed out) on how they should plan their lives or their kitchens.
I can see it now: the Kate Rothwell/Summer Devon Kitchen Line!
